ASSIGNMENT

Document the transformation of a rural Vermont site into the temporary venue for Phish's Coventry festival, following the production from early site preparation through construction, load-in and the arrival of the audience. Working as a venue operations manager provided ongoing access to the site throughout its transformation.

Building The Stage

The venue began as open farmland divided by a stream. Documentation followed the stage build from the earliest site work, including installation of a culvert through the stage area, to the steel foundation, deck, upper structure and canopy, and ultimately the completed stage.

Building The Environment

Alongside the stage construction, the visual design team transformed the surrounding venue through perimeter structures, painted surfaces and large-scale artwork fabricated and installed throughout the site.

Gates Open

As construction neared completion, production traffic gave way to audience arrival and the finished venue began to fill.
