ASSIGNMENT
Hired by Good Company to document the behind-the-scenes production of a film project featuring professional surfer and filmmaker Mikey DeTemple, photographed on location across New York City and Montauk. The resulting photography was later selected for use throughout an official Mercedes-Benz digital editorial feature profiling DeTemple's life as a surfer and filmmaker.
Challenge One
Working fluidly alongside the film crew without interfering with production, particularly while shooting from a moving camera process vehicle traveling across active bridges and city streets.
Challenge two
Capturing strong editorial moments without entering the production camera’s frame is essential. If a take has to stop or a good one gets thrown away because the photographer broke frame, it costs production money. Knowing precisely where the frame lines are, and staying aware as they change, allows me to find my shots without putting the production at risk.
The Result
The resulting photography was selected for Mercedes-Benz's digital editorial feature, appearing throughout the published story.
